Wake up early and head to the Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing before setting off on your chimpanzee tracking experience. Kibale Forest is home to the largest concentration of chimpanzees in Uganda, alongside other primates such as red colobus monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Spend an hour observing the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.
After the trek, have lunch and embark on a long yet scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours and traverses beautiful landscapes, including the terraced hills of Kigezi, also known as the “Switzerland of Africa.”
Upon arrival, check into your lodge, have dinner, and rest in preparation for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.
Accommodation:
This is the highlight of your trip! After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before venturing into the dense forests of Bwindi in search of the majestic mountain gorillas. Trekking can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family assigned to you. Once you locate them, you will have an unforgettable hour observing them up close as they play, feed, and interact in their natural environment.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, if energy allows, take part in an optional cultural tour to interact with the Batwa pygmies, an indigenous group that once lived in Bwindi Forest. Learn about their ancient traditions, music, and way of life.
